Open water Diving Course 

Course Goals 

The purpose of this course is to teach and explain the effects of the environment on the human body (the diver), to learn rules of conduct, to impart correct work habits underwater – such habits that will enable an enjoyable and safe dive. 

Admission requirements 

At least 12 years old when the course begins.(under the age of 18  requires parent's signature) 

Declaration of health (including parent's signature of under 18) 

Successfully passing entrance exams. 

General Structure 

The course is divided into 2 parts combined with each other – theoretic and practical. The course is a five day course between 5-6 hours each day. The course is Sunday through Thursday or weekends. 

Practical 

This part is made up of 10 lessons: 

Tube, mask and flippers lesson in the pool or calm water. This lesson is optional. 

2 Scuba lessons in the pool or calm waters (maximum depth 3meters) 

6 dives in open waters (ocean – maximum depth 20 meters) 

Theoretic 

New environment 

The respiratory system and the effect of the underwater environment on the system 

Rules of conduct in this new environment 

Diving equipment – use, choices, checking, care 

Diving plan and correct use of compression tables 

Diving dangers – identification, treatment and prevention 

Emergency situations and resuscitation   

The surrounding and marine life and nature conservation 

Progress routes and continuing courses 

 Sum-up test and qualification 

 The trainee will be qualified only after meeting all the practical requirements of the course, has passed the test successfully and has received the trainers signature 

Permits 

Permitted to dive up to 20 meter depth 

Limitations 

Must be accompanied by a diving partner who is at least one level above. Must also be equipped with mandatory diving equipment 

Junior Scuba Diver 

Junior diver (under the age of 15) is permitted to dive when accompanied by an adult diver (over the age of 21), who is at least a 2 star diver, up to a maximum depth of 20 meters

It is recommended to continue on to 2 star course in Herzelia/Eilat
